International garden photographer of the year 17A lovely sunny day at Kew Gardens yesterday for the IGPOTY 17 Awards Ceremony and Exhibition opening. Two of my images (Dance of the Acer Leaf and Ode To A Leaf) appear in the exhibition as Finalists in the Square Crop project. I was also happy to learn that Season of Mists gained a Commended in the hotly contested Abstract Views category bringing my total this year to 2 Finalists, 1 Highly Commended and 2 Commended (see gallery below)
Do visit the exhibition if you can - so many beautiful images on display! It is is at Kew Gardens until March 10 before travelling to other venues across the UK and Europe. Coming this weekend for two days only (Saturday October 28th 10am-5pm, Sunday October 29th 10am-4pm) I am taking part in a pop-up exhibition with Wendy Chapman and Kate Barry at the charming Blockley Little Village Hall, Blockley, Glos, GL56 9BB. We'll be showing our diverse artwork (all of which will be for sale) and offering light refreshments.
The Potters' Jolley 2023 is also taking place at the Jubilee Village Hall on the same dates (12 potters and ceramic artists). So this will be the perfect weekend if you are looking for arty gifts in time for Christmas! I recently entered 4 of my images (see below) in the International Garden Photographer Of The Year's Square Crop Project and have just received the news that all 4 images appear in the results list; two images are Finalists, one Highly Commended and one Commended.
Full results from the contest can be seen on IGPOTY's website HERE I am very pleased to be a new member of the wonderful Made In Ross artist co-operative, based upstairs in the historic Market House in Ross on Wye and open daily from 10am to 4pm. I have available to buy a small collection of framed works as well as prints, cards, notebooks and 2024 calendars. It is a lovely gallery space, hosting an interesting and diverse range of artists and creators so if you are in the area, do pay us a visit! The FarOpen Art Trail finished on Sunday July 9th. I am grateful to all the visitors to our group exhibition at May Hill Church (where I was exhibiting with three other talented artists, Myra Fricker, Von Feathers and Di Weissberg of Printed Up Clothing)
I met so many lovely people (and their dogs too) on the days I was stewarding and had many interesting chats. Thank you so much to all those who purchased my work (even small purchases like a pack of cards can make a difference to an artist like me). Huge thanks also to everybody involved in organising such a successful event (especially Caroline at May Hill Church and all the farOpen Team). Pictured below is Nothing Gold Can Stay, one of my framed, limited edition prints which sold during farOpen week. I will be taking part in the annual FAROPEN ART TRAIL from July 1 to July 9th, featuring 73 different venues across the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. I am sharing Venue 52 (May Hill Church, Gloucestershire, GL17 0NL, open 11-6 daily) with three other wonderful artists and am also participating in the Group Exhibition at the Dean Heritage Centre, Soudley, Glos, GL14 2UB (Venue 24, Open 24 June-July 9, 11-3 daily)
Downloadable brochure for the Art Trail can be found HERE, along with route maps so you can explore several different venues all in the same area More information on the three May Hill venues HERE (pdf flyer) I am participating in the FarOpen Spring Exhibition taking place from April 8-April 16th 2023 at the new Picture House Gallery, Cinderford, GL14 2AA. Do come along if you are in the area and support this new gallery
So pleased to be one of the Featured Photographers in the latest edition of the RPS Visual Art magazine (in wonderful company). Thank you to Editor, Nicki Gwynn-Jones for inviting me to write about my iPhone creations
A beautiful day at Kew Gardens on February 3rd for the International Garden Photographer of The Year's Sixteenth Exhibition. I was invited to attend as my image "Song For Autumn" was a Finalist in the Square Crop Project and is featured in the outdoor exhibition (as well as being blown up large for the introductory panel). It was a lovely event as always and the exhibition is well worth a visit if you're in the area - so many wonderful images on display. Congratulations to all winners, especially David Townshend and Anette Holt who were 1st and 3rd respectively in Abstract Views, my favourite category.
